  • Shoulder immobiliser for 2-3 days
  • Active elbow and hand range of motion
  • Shoulder pendulum exercises
  • Scapular setting
  • Active assisted forward elevation
  • Passive external rotation
  • Shoulder strengthening- Isometric
  • Cross body adduction
  • Internal rotation

6-12 weeks

  • Active shoulder range of motion
  • Shoulder strengthening exercises

  • Wean off the sling

  • Isometric shoulder exercises

6-12 weeks

  • Active shoulder exercises
  • Closed chain exercises
  • Capsular stretching
  • Commence shoulder strengthening towards later half.

Biceps tenodesis

0-3 weeks

  • Master sling all the time
  • Use hand for seated light weight activities as comfortable
  • Gentle active assisted elbow flexion, active elbow extension as tolerated.
  • No resisted elbow flexion, forearm supination or forced passive extension
  • Scapular setting
  • Passive shoulder range of motion

3-6 weeks

  • Wean off the sling
  • Commence active assisted shoulder glenohumeral exercises
  • Isometric shoulder exercises

6-12 weeks

  • Begin Biceps resistive exercises
  • Active shoulder exercises
  • Closed chain exercises
  • Capsular stretching
  • Shoulder strengthening

  • No external rotation >30

6-12 weeks

  • Increase active shoulder exercises progressing to full range of motion by 12 weeks
  • Closed chain exercises
  • Shoulder strengthening

>12 weeks

  • May begin weight training / gym (avoid wide grip bench press / dips)

6-12 weeks

  • Increase active shoulder exercises progressing to full range of motion by 12 weeks
  • Closed chain exercises
  • Shoulder strengthening

>12 weeks

  • May begin weight training / gym (avoid close grip bench press / dips)

  • NO Extension for 6 weeks
  • NO IR in abduction (behind back) for 6 weeks

3-6 weeks

  • Keep Master sling till week 6
  • Active assisted shoulder range of motion exercises

6-12 weeks

  • Active shoulder range of motion
  • Commence isometric shoulder strengthening

Distal Biceps tendon repair (endobutton)

0-2 weeks

  • Back slab with hand free
  • Active hand exercises
  • Acitve shoulder forward elevation

2-6 weeks

  • Collar and cuff with elbow in 45 degree flexion
  • Start active elbow range of motion exercises
  • No lifting of weight

6-12 weeks

  • No sling
  • Start strengthening exercises
  • Passive stretching as required

> 12 weeks

  • Full normal activity
